The Art of Practicing Chinese Medicine

This is a 12" x 18" art print depicting the Wu Xing cycle of the Five Elements or Five Phases.

The Cycle of the Five Elements is a foundational diagram in the theory of Chinese Medicine. It is used to explain the relationship of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood, the 5 elements that symbolize different aspects of qi as they are represented in nature. The elements and their generating, overacting and insulting relationships have traditionally been illustrated using a 5-pointed star, and are seen here with their classically assigned season, color, organ system, and yin/yang aspect.

The print was printed digitally on Neenah Classic Crest Natural White paper. (This paper has a slightly cream hue, it is not a bright white)

Gold foil stamping depicts the Generating Cycle, and silver foil stamping depicts the Overacting and Insulting Cycles.

The design has a clear margin of more than .5" on every side to allow for the lip of a frame.

This print is appropriate for use as a diagram in a clinical setting, or as a sophisticated art print for decorative use.

**Frame optional - frame is a 12” teak wood magnetic poster frame. Some variation may occur in wood grain.
